TRAINING

Our next workshop is on Empowering the Voluntary Sector on Thursday 10th November 2011here at MCSC.  We are hosting this award-winning workshop for NAVCA.  It explores how to use the principles of public law and Compact to challenge unjust and unfair decision making by public bodies.

To book a place, email Natalie at the address on the left.

*******************************************************************************

We offer various training workshops throughout the year, and are also more than happy to design bespoke events to meet the particular needs of your organisation.

Our regular workshops take place in our Marsham Street premises, usually running from 9.30am - 3.30pm.  Current costs are £40 for VCOs, £55 for other bodies.

If your organisation has a training need that is not currently being met, please talk to Natalie - VAM may be able to help, either by providing training ourselves, or sign-posting you on.

For further information about training, contact Natalie.

FUNDERFINDER

FunderFinder (Groups in Need) is a searchable database of about 4,000 foundations and charitable trusts that fund voluntary and community groups in the UK.

We have a copy of the software installed on the CVS computer, ready for local groups to use, free of charge.

If you are an existing group, or are considering establishing a group, and are looking for funding, you can come see us, fire up the computer and enter the details of your group – what you do, where you operate, who you work with – and FunderFinder will trawl through the thousands of listed funders, and identify those that are most likely to fund your group.

Even though FunderFinder is a very straightforward program, and very easy to use, we do also have the accompanying training CD available for first-time users, which shows you how to get the best out of the database.

To find out more or book a session, contact Natalie Smith at the number/email on the left.

VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY SECTOR FOCUS GROUP

This group meets every two months, for a couple of hours in the morning.  It's a lively, friendly group and we are always glad to see new faces.  We offer an open invitation to representatives of all voluntary and community groups in the Maidstone area.

The purpose of the group is to bring organisations together to discuss areas of mutual interest and concern, to identify issues that need to be pursued, to network, to share good practice and to provide a forum for discussion and consultation with the statutory sector.

Click here to see the group's Terms of Reference.

It is a very useful resource for groups to "plug into" - attendance does not have to be regular, meeting agendas will be displayed here on this website and if we are discussing something of particular interest to your group, please come along.

Our next meeting is on 18th November 2011 where we will finding out more about the British Red Cross in Maidstone.

If you would like to come along for the first time, or are thinking about it and would like a bit more information, please contact Natalie at the number/email on the left.
