Mental Health Support

Support service for those people who care for a friend/relative with mental health problems.

What can we offer you?

A listening service when times are not so good, or even when things are going well.  We can offer support whether iit be emotional support or practical advice on those every day problems like housing and benefits.  If we are unsure we can direct you to the appropriate person who will be able to help you.

Contact can be made by telephone, email on a one-to-one basis, home visit or alternatively at the Maidstone Community Support Centre here in Maidstone.

Regular support meetings – a chance to meet other people in similar situations.  To make new friends, learn new ways of dealing with difficult situations and to feel you are not alone.

Feedback groups – representatives from the NHS or Social Services are invited to give a small presentation on an aspect of mental health services with time afterwards for a question and answer session.

A regular newsletter - download our latest newsletter Oct 07

Advice and health education on mental health problems and the prescribed medication.

The Carers Break Fund – a fund specifically for the carer to take ‘time out’.  This could be a day trip, a weekend break or a weeks holiday.  It could be a trip to the theatre or even horse riding lessons.  The possibilities are endless, and you can apply for the fund to cover costs giving you precious ‘me’ time.
