About the Volunteer Centre

The Volunteer Centre is independently accredited by Volunteering England and part of an network of Centres across the country. It has six core functions;

Brokerage

To match individuals and groups interested in volunteering with appropriate opportunites in the local community.

Marketing

To promote and encourage local interest in volunteering and community activity. This includes publications, events and PR.

Good Practice Development

To promote good practice in working with volunteers to all volunteer involving organisations. This includes delivering training and providing assistance and advice.

Developing Opportunites

To work in partnership with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies as well as community and faith groups to develop volunteering opportunites and promote diversity.

Policy Response and Campaigning

To identify proposals or legislation that may impact on volunteering and participate in campaigns on issues that affect volunteering. To campaign proactively for a more volunteer- literate and volunteer- friendly climate.

Strategic Development

As the local experts on volunteering, to inform strategic thinking and planning at local, regional and national level.

  • Kent Network of Volunteer Centres - Chair
  • 2012 Games Kent Campaign: Volunteering Group - Chair
